RE: how do u set up ur spread?
For early season geese (still in family groups) the U patern works very well. We put a group around us and one to the left and right and a little bit in front of us about 35 yards. Then we place two more groups abour 5-20 yards in front of the first two groups depending on the size of the field. We then take about 2 or 3 small groups of about 2 or 3 decoys and fill in some of the holes, for example one group behind us to the left or right and one in front of us to the left or right.
This worked very well for us this year.
For the migratory birds try one big cluster with holes about 5 yards in diameter in the cluster. Sit behind the opening so when they land they come right to you. The migratory geese are use to landing in big flocks on the ground.

We setup either 2 bunches of dekes with a hole in the middle or put them all to the upwind side of our position. Make your landing area very prominent and very close to your position. DO adjust the spread if the birds are not working correctly.

RE: how do u set up ur spread?
Well i dont really have a set way to set my decoys down here in north carolina its a # game i use anywhere from 75-100 decoys on a normal hunt and this isnt big water this is small pot holes and stuff in the potholes i put the decoys around the banks and stuff leaving the center open with a mojo and 2 flyer decoys on the edge of the center. on big water i like about 4-5dz mallards and 2-3dz diver decoys and maybe a dz goose deocoys if they are in the area. usally set geese on one side mallards in the midde with mojo and flyers with the divers comeing off one side in a big line try some of them set up's but i dont think you will need as many decoys up there as i need down here depending on where your hunting GOOD LUCK
