I don't have much experience at it, but some old timers around here say "peanut butter" never louder than a whisper and only to very good friends

Where do you live?

Do the feed stores where you live sell deer corn?

If so, it works well to fill up a 2 liter coke bottle with this corn and the deer will kick it around and eat the corn. Kindof a make shift feeder.

Good luck.

I use corn, but my understanding is they dont digest it well.
The problem is ...I cant find any sweet potatos or apples,if I could I would use that
We dident get any acorns AT ALL this year so these deer are going to have a rough winter.I had a nice 6 pointer 20 yds in back of the garage this morning untill 8am just chowing down.I kept looking at the bow, look at the camera,at the bow,at the camera,bow,camera,deer.....
ended up getting the vidio camera[:-]
Theres a 10pointer I'm thinking of getting anyway
I'm gonna see what the feed store has that I can use this winter

Coarse14 - a grain blend found at a feed store...works great.

Apples work great. Deer will come to them even if you haven't baited before putting out about 8 apples then climbing in your stand. Personally, I have to bait when there are no acorns and all my neighbors are baiting deer. One time, I forgot to put out my apples before climbing the tree. When I realized it I was already on my platform 30 feet up. I then threw out several, and literally had about 4 deer underneath me within about a minute. Unfortunately, it was a half hour before light and my bow was on the ground.

Corn always the best. Apples because of scent and cover scent. Carrots and sugar beets work well in MI.
