RE: for those who bait
we have always used corn but i had heard that some people were having pretty good luck with apples.
all the surrounding property uses corn so i was looking for something that they seemed to like better than corn.
you know we have to stay one up on our neighbors[>:]

A hay bed(alfalfa) then 50-100lbs of clean barley on top....deer love barley up in these parts. Oats are another good option, but the must be harvested and cleaned is best.

I use sweet potatoes and apples. I cant keep it in the woods. Have use the combo for 3 years now. Put out 300 lb of sweet potatoes, and about 50 lb of apples fri. before snow and had to put out more today.I like them because the squirells cant carry it away.

deer and corn just go together. they'll seek it more as it gets colder. it speeds up their metabolism which heats them up. I live in Ga so I can't hunt on it, i just put my camera on it for good pictures. if it's legal, spread about 100 pounds over a half acre or so. its more natural to them if it's spread. they do love peanut butter, but i couldn't afford it anymore. i like the coke bottle idea. i might try that.

Where I live hunting over bait is illegal so after season I always put out corn during cold weather and put my camera over it. This is no lie,, after about a week the deer will eat about 75-100 lbs each night. I can put my gamecam on 10 minute delay and get a full roll of 24 pics in one night. The camera will usually get set of about 40 times each day over the corn. Corn also helps the deer retain body heat, but has little nutrition in it.
