I think you should be commended for having the restraint to wait for an ethical shot. I' ve seen a few posts on here recently of people taking crazy shots with rifles and shotguns. Not even knowing what they were shooting at. having a deer walk into their shooting lane and blasting it before they even knew if it was a doe or a buck. Hang in there. It' ll come. I have 8 or 9 years of hunting behind me. I got my first deer last year. took another small doe this year. I guess someday I' ll get a wall hanger, and it will be a personal trophy.

Yes by all means, if a deer walks into your lane make sure its really a deer
and not a person in a deer suit. Stop it and ask for I.D. if at all possible.
Hang in there, just make sure youre in the woods when all the others leave,
it pays off quite often.
Good luck!

Hey dh I guess it depends on how you measure the sucess of your hunts, in the years that I have been hunting I' ve eaten alot of tag soup.
As a matter of fact this year instead of elk roast in the crock there will be an unfilled tag. But I still had a great time and I am willing to do it again next year.
Just rember that at the game of hunting the deer are full time professionals and we are part time amatures.
It is called hunting not shooting.
good luck and stick with it.

be patient grasshopper!
Good things come to those who wait, and eventually you will connect. Keep sharpening your skills; shoot your weapon, read books, spend time in the woods scouting, be persisent.
Now.... get back out there!

Yeah, you are a bad hunter, you stink! Ah, just kidden. Stop watching hunting shows where they kill a deer every 5 minutes and you won' t feel so bad. I know many guys who hunt for years without getting a deer. It took me 4 years to kill my first whitetail, they have come alot easier since then by learning and planning.
