My older brother had used Tinks and he claims it scared deer away but rifle season had just opened and the deer were nutts. The only thing he has and seen work and my father is the old Indian Buck Lure. I myself are yet to see some work.

using sents is very effective. However it must be the right time. My friend put some tinks out a couple weeks ago @ begining of rifle season and it wasn' t the rut yet. he saw a huge 10 pointer across a field and grunted, the old boy came in but when he got to the sent cans it freaked out! I mean freaked out .When I know when the peak of the rut is and where some active primary scapes are located, then I will make a sent trail w/ wool pads on my boots going thru scrapes and crossing trails or runs, then I will walk up wind of my stand and leave them about 4 ft. of the ground.....Had bucks walk right in my tracks w/ love in their hearts and tongues hangin" out......obliterous to what was about to happen....ps...." James Valley" was the best sent I ever used......

Also... Try making a mock scrape and putting some dominent buck lure in it at or around the pre rut. Then cover up the scrape w/ some leaves...go back a couple days later and you might find you' ve pissed off the big buck cuz its all torn up again...now you got his attention.
