Default deer know when you arent hunting them

Got off work there wasnt much time to get ready and hunt. So I thought I would just sit in my truck and see what would come out to feed. Well I had six does about 20 yards from my truck eating alfalfa. Figures they know when they are not being hunted. What sight to see them so peaceful. I have two questions. One of the does I noticed had a large ball like thing hanging from its neck what could this be? One of the does was riding other doe. Could this mean that doe was in heat?

You mentioned something hanging from the doe' s neck... I just read something about that. I think it' s some type of benign tumor.

Yes, the doe on the bottom is in heat. The doe on top will be soon.

Hawgnman is right on. Seen several species of animals do the same thing and the reason is the same. They are about to come in heat. GET READY for the RUT!

A few years back i had a buddy who had already tagged out in archery and he went to film for his brother on the 1st day and filmed 2 skinheads humping. In Pa. the rut is usually pretty much over by gun season. For some reason that season we had many bucks drop their horns early. We previously assumed that the film was a buck that dropped it' s horns and a doe but from what i read maybe does are also into " lesbian" activities. Anybody who can clarify would be appreciated.

When the does engage in lesbian activities, the bucks like to stand by and watch!
