Default Acorns age?

After the acorns fall how long will they be eatable for deer before they rot?

It also depends on the weather. A few years ago we had a warm spell after the acorns had dropped. When it warmed up in late dec. the acorns started sprouting. And I believe that when happens, they may not be available for the deer as they probably lose the protein value they had prior to sprouting. I don' t remember seeing anywhere signs of them digging the nuts out of the ground.
