impatient but worth it

I climbed in my tree stand at just before 6 am and waited for opening morning, as a serious bow hunter I remember when I was dumb enough to think that opening day meant that the deer season just started, ha. Anyway I've sat in my stand too much because it's close to home and I knew the property has nice deer, but at 8:45 I thought a dog was coming up the dry creek bed that I watched but quickly I realized I was blessed with a half dozen hogs coming my way, I couldn't help myself and took the second hog -a nice black female. Have to hunt for horns later, good luck guys

Go to photobucket.com and create a free account. You can upload a photo there and then copy the image link and post it in the thread. I looked at my trail camera photos and the night before rifle season opened... so a couple days ago, this is what was at my feeder.

I was fortunate to take a nice buck this morning on our Vermont opening day 10/1/2016. It was literally a 10 minute hunt. Shot was 10 yards and recovery about 150 yards. Quartering away, took liver and one lung.

He dressed 152.5lbs and has a 16.5" inside spread.

I took this 146 5/8" Mule Deer in southern Colorado on 10/24/2016. It was a 100 yard off hand high shoulder shot. He went straight down. Was a very old buck with little teeth left. We think he was 7 or 8 years old.

anyone interested in seeing a series of game cam pics showing 2 bucks sparring?

Cool video.
Did the bolt stick in the tree?
It looked like it.
I watched the video on my new smart tv.

Congratulations.

This guy was following a doe, grunting like crazy yesterday. Southern Indiana. Got him at about 10 am with my Remington 870. He's my biggest ever. 25 years worth. Lol

Got this doe on the morning of November 27th with my 300 Win Mag Encore pistol. I dropped her with a single 143 yard shot.

Got this guy opening morning of Missouri season. With very high temps and the super moon deer movement was slow. Glad to get him. Good eater.

My 13 year old boy with his 2nd buck, 3rd deer in 3 years.

Just a lucky mid-day situation, someone or something must have spooked some deer on a woody point about 400 yards away. About 15 doe and two bucks piled down the hill and out into the field, they charged across the field to another point almost exactly 200 yards away. The doe all hit the brakes prior to jumping the fence and entering the woods, the buck was forced to do the same. The boy made a great shot with his 7mm.08 and the buck jumped the fence and dropped about 60 yards into the woods.

I love the black "mane" on that buck! Not very many have that. I was lucky enough to get one about 20 years ago, we've never seen another from our farm. Very cool!

No picture, I got a doe about 11:00 on Monday. After I left the butcher shop I remembered I didn't take a photo. It was in the mid 50s on Monday after noontime so I left for the butcher shop which was an hour and a half from my hunting property. Everyone knows what a doe looks like anyway.:D I still have a doe and buck tag but since there is only two of us I don't need more than one deer. I get two doe tags because sometimes I have to take one for the landowner if he doesn't get one. He did so I am done for this year. Now I will get into bird hunting. Monday was the worst opening day I have had in years, I only saw two deer between 6:30am and 3pm and I took one of them.

This small spike buck came in dragging his front leg. not what I wanted to shoot, but he was injured so I took him. His horns were less than 3" so tagged as an antlerless. Shot around 1540 on the last day of Ohio's gun season. Also, that's a Mossberg 695 shooting the 12ga Remington accutips. I wanted to use the .44 mag but my fiancé was out as well and she was carrying the .44 as it's much lighter recoil.

Taken the 26 Nov. Long story in a different thread. Short story, spotted him making a rub from about 60 yrds out. Dropped him when he finished and stepped out into a 1 ft hole I could shoot through in the trees. Public land

Shot this little guy with my little 500 revolver. I was out on my place, with a friend and his grandson. I put my buddy and grandson in two of the best blinds and I went and walked the river. I saw this guys rack through the trees so I set up behind a ceder tree about 35 yards from the trail he was walking on. When he came in view, well you know the rest of the story. Used a handload of a 450 grain soft point with a butt load of H110

This is the Revolver. Shot this sow the next day.

That definitely meets "hand cannon" qualifications.

Watched this guy for two hours opening day but didn't want to be done. Then watched him for an hour the next morning. Then it got hot, and deer movement stopped and didn't see a deer the rest of the day. He came back out about 15 minutes before sunset and I had had enough of him taunting me. Was locked down on a doe each time I him

Took this little lady this morning in Paris, TX. I needed a burger deer and she fit the bill. Not the biggest doe, probably 85-90 lbs live weight but she'll be my last one for the season. The freezer will be full after she gets ground.

VTBoneCollector 01-10-2017 03:13 PM

NebBuckHunter, REALLY, taunting you?!?!? He'd been done the first time I saw him. What a toad! What did he weigh anyway? Congrats.

Rob in VT 02-21-2017 02:58 PM

Some really nice deer guys! Congrats to all who put a little meat in the freezer.
