I hunt orange county but no rifles are allowed. When reading the regulations it states they allow rimfire pistols. So I am assuming they allow rimfire rifles. Is it so? Anyone hunt there?

If a rimfire rifle is a rifle, and the regualtions say no rifles are allowed, my guess is they are not allowed.

I know that the hunting regs put out by some states can be tough to understand. Indiana seems to change rules pretty frequently. Then they try to tweak the hunting regulation manuals to account for the changes, when what they should do is start from scratch.

Most likley there will be a number in the manual you can call to get questions answered. That's what I would do if you can't be sure by reading.

Seems pretty clear to me too. I wouldn't risk it. I'd use a shotgun if I can't use a .22 rifle without fearing a citation. But then, that's me.

Where in Orange County?

Edit: And I believe that you can not hunt big game with a rimfire rifle in NY.

NY prohibits shooting deer with a rim fire.
