not so fast..my 14 y/o daughter has only ever had 1 deer run on her, she shoots a 223....usually they drop where they are standing. I on the other hand have had em run plenty of times.

Why slam the guy on his claim? Who cares, he got the deer, didn't he?

Nice Buck and congrats!

A .243 will kill just as dead as a cannon and you will have more meat to eat!

Congrats on the buck, I think this story is losing its point, it's a successful hunting story.

a .243 can drop a deer in its tracks. I won't use one but put it through the heart or bot shoulders and it can drops in its tracks. Not saying it always will.

People need to remember, Midwest deer and SE USA deer are A LOT different in size so it's going to have a different effect on different deer in different areas.

Also, I'm not sure about all states, but most states do have leg tags and I don't see any legs so how do we know it isn't tagged on the leg?

The only thing that I can see being illegal is that chain! LOL

Congrats again!

I'm selling my 30-06 & 7mm-08, and downsizing to a .243

I heard more stories about boom-flop from a .243 than any other round.

Nice deer. I have killed them with the 243. Not my favorite choice, but if you do your job, it will do its job. I run a little heavier firepower here, mainly because you never know what you are going to run across in this country.
