Default Finally got one.

Only took me 2 weeks but finally got one. I hadnt even been seeing any deer which didnt make sense. Just had all my corn cut so figured they would be scavenging the fields for leftovers the combine didnt get. Also they were killing my corn piles and my cams were getting a ton of pics but I just wasnt seeing anything. Didnt matter if I hunted morning, middle of the day, or evenings I saw nothing.

Last Saturday I got in a stand over looking my biggest corn field at around 5:45am and about 10 till 7 one walked out of the woods about 125 yards out. Now my scope is dead on but its magnification sucks so I have a horrible time trying to size deer up with my scope. I was trying to figure out if I wanted to shoot him or let him walk. I saw he had horns but I couldnt tell how big the rack was, how many points he had, or even how big his body was. Well lets say Im glad I pulled the trigger. Also I dont understand why all my friends shoot with .270s or even 7 mags I put all my deer down with my .243 and the most I have ever had to track a deer was 15 feet.

I like the rack on that buck! I always like those big 6 and 7s.

Some people need to take a lesson in what a bullet does, especially a smaller caliber like a .243, when it enters a living thing.

I agree with thomas, I have shot all of my deer with a .243 and none of them have ran any farther that 10 yards.

I also would have been very happy with that buck Congrats. Bunch of haters a .243 is moving therefore it does a decent amount of damage. I believe you

I think I'll stay with the 7mm mag. When it can kill a moose,...I know it'll kill a deer.
