I' ll admit to being a bit hesitant to shoot a mother with young ' uns with her, but with our waaaay outta whack doe to buck ratio, we have to thin out some does . . . and the fawns are old enough to survive.
An added benefit is that the research shows that, when the mother doe is killed, the male fawns usually remain in the area rather than being run off. You help improve the ratio two ways by taking the doe with fawns.

I read one time...a biologist said that in areas with overpopulation, the right doe to shoot is the one that stands still long enough to give you a clean shot. I agree

Will shoot one, maybe two does early without regard to the fawns, if the does are big enough. After that I probably let them walk. You guys have to remember that you are the ' predator' for deer. It' s your responsibility to balance the herd. Just remember, the wolve would take the easy, youngest target. At least you can be more selective for the benefit of the herd.

I would shoot a doe if it had a fawn without spots. If it has spots, call me crazy but Im gonna shoot it. That spotted pelt would look real pretty on my wall, and that would be the most tender, juciest meat in the world!

Yes. Especially if it is a big doe. No hesitation. I have taken many large, mature does with young. I love hunting...and love venison. 3 to 4 yr old big does are great table fare.

Some of the places i hunt in Virginia it is hard to tell the large does from the fawns, the deer seem to be about the same size, so to answer your question, yup, it gets shot.
