I AM LOOSING A HUNTING PARTNER !!!
Yes everyone, I am loosing a hunting partner. My grandfather. He got me started on hunting at the age of twelve when he took me to my hunters education course, bought me a marlin .22, and took me out squirrel hunting. He went into the hospital 2 and a half weeks ago. I was at a friends house and got the call from my sister that said I needed to get home fast because my grandfather needed to go to the hospital. He lives next to us. I got home and found him. He couldn't move on his own. He had been loosing all of his weight because he couldn't keep food down. Well, we got him to the hospital and the doctors found a tumor in his bowals. They removed it as if it were cancerious, which we found out three days ago that it was. Anyways, he was doing really good, then the doctors put him on solid food and he got sick from it. He must now have all of his "food" injected into a vain in his neck, this will be going on for a month before they progress him back into solids. So he has probablly close to two months in the hospital. When he is out of the hospital, he must go through 8 months of kemo therapy. The nurses told him that he has about 3 years left and if he is lucky 5 years. My grandfather is only 71 years old, and before he got sick, he could out hike anyone. He was in INCREDIBLY good health. I am just tore up about this because he was my favorite person to hunt with. My greatest memories in the woods were spent with this guy. He will more than likely never be able to hunt again.
NEVER take your hunting partners for granted. You never know what can happen. Let them know that you love spending time with them before it is too late.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

I lost my grandfather years ago. He got cancer at age66 of the lymph glands. The doctors sent him home to die, said he had a max of 6 months to live that 90 percent of his body was full of cancer. What did they know ? Nothing. 7 years later he returned to the same hospital with a heart attack. They couldnt believe it. The ran test and there was no cancer to be found. So he had quadrupal heart bypass and recovered and went huntin 2 more years before he passed away fro Lou Gehrigs disease.

You have my prayers Buck Magnet and just a word of advice, as cardeer said, some people do very well even after being diagnosed with cancer, you may want to consider setting up some hunting spots your grandfather will be able to use if he recovers enough, if he gets well enough to hunt even one more time it will mean the world to both of you.

RE: I AM LOOSING A HUNTING PARTNER !!!
Thanks guys. I truly believe that he can make it through. He had skin cancer on his neck about three years ago and is fine now. He is one tough cookie. Geez, about two years ago he was working on something in his garage and he cut the tip off of his pointer finger, so he just put some blanket around it, then duck taped it and drove himself to the hospital. I go in everyday and talk to him about hunting. He was in really good spirits until the nurses told him that. I guess that I will take him his new Cabelas and tell him that he better get out of there so he can order his crossbow. He loves challenging hunts so he is getting a crossbow because he can't pull back his hoyt anymore. I have been scouting for him for muzzleloader season but it doesn't look like he will be out to do any ML hunting this year. Thank you everyone. I am not going to let him think that he wont make it. I am gonna bring his spirits up.
