Default Very small hunting area.

I only have 3 acres that I can hunt. I normally just hunt it once a week but in the same ground blind that I leave in the same spot all season. Should I be ok just hunting once a week there. I did see alot of deer there last year.

3 acres isn't that much but if you saw lots of deer last year once a week this should be fine too.But in a ground blind that is allways set up you could probably get away with hunting it more especially if they only funnel through one or two areas of your hunting ground. If it was my only hunting area hell, I'd hunt the thing every day I could.
You only have an opportunity to kill one, if your out there hunting.
It's a gamble but unless you do it you will never win.

My question is - are you rifle hunting or archery hunting.

The key to hunting is to hunt every day. If it was archery hunting - 3 acres is just fine. If it was rifle hunting, I would worry about shooting something and then having it run onto the neighbors land - once it was wounded.

Your best bet is to make friends with the neighbors. Even if it means buying them a couple of bottles of whiskey or a couple of cases of beer or a nice Thanksgiving turkey or a Christmas ham.

When I worked for the electric company, I made many friends while I was out working and many people invited me to come back any time I wanted to hunt on their land.

I often times took them little presents to ensure that they wouldn't forget about me and to make sure that I was welcome to come back again next year. Last year I had a entire deer turned into beef sticks, bologna, sausage and kielbasa and I gave most of it away.

It never hurts to knock on doors and ask for permission and to share your harvest if you get lucky and to say thank you even if you didn't.

I usually have more places to hunt then days to hunt in.

Deer hit with arrows run further than deer hit with bullets. Take high percentage archery shots, and if you hunt with a gun shoot them so they drop (high shoulder) rather than run off (behind shoulder).

If you think about it, if you hunt from a stand most often you are hunting just a few acres. You just need the deer to come through your few acres. If the wind is right you can hunt the same stand repeatedly without a problem.

You will be fine there onece a week. I would cut a fire Lane and add corn. Once the smoke clears in a week or two, go back and whack them. Eary mornings around here are the time for the cutdown hunts. If the deer are bedding, they will be in the food source first thing, ease in there quietly and wait. Try not to spook them on the way in. In other words, pick your route carefully as not to push them from thier food source.
You will be posting pics in no time.

I would say it depends on the area... I mean i hunt lots that size in the suburbs and there crawling with deer. In fact went out Saturday morning and saw about 25 deer on a lot about the same size. Actually shot my first doe of the year at 53yards. Granted this is bowhunting only. I would say its location...
