Deer hit with arrows run further than deer hit with bullets. Take high percentage archery shots, and if you hunt with a gun shoot them so they drop (high shoulder) rather than run off (behind shoulder).

If you think about it, if you hunt from a stand most often you are hunting just a few acres. You just need the deer to come through your few acres. If the wind is right you can hunt the same stand repeatedly without a problem.
