I have seen a black panther here on 2 acounts. 1 while deer hunting around a pond that had tree's scratched up as it was fishing, and the second time was at night it was crossing the road. I can tell you why I never investigated any further. I know and believe my eyes, as to what I saw. and I really have no desire to f with a kitty cat that would like to eat me. Yes there is some discrepancy in these photos, but the head and tail are not dog like may be a short tail but dogs tails don't curl up like a snake.

Provide a reliable source.
Like this one?

Saying you saw something in the 70's or there are multiple eyewitness accounts, but no physical evidence, doesn't work for me.

Until then my conclusion is dogs.

I'm really not asking what works for you. I know what I saw. What you think about black panthers means nothing to me. Everybody's experience in the woods is different. I'm not trying to convince you of anything, just relating my story. It's a picture on the internet for pete's sake. Could be dogs, cats, or cardboard cutouts. Sorry to bust your bubble there ace but the U. S. fish and game either doesn't know squat or they don't want you to know the TRUTH. So much for reliable... I depend on what I see in the wild ....NOT what someone TELLS me about the wild..Hahahaha.

This is how most stories get out of hand....I hear all the time of people seeing mt lions, black panthers, big foot, Elvis, UFOs, and so on. The proof just never seems to be conclusive.

It is a proven fact that two people can see the same thing and come to completely different conclusions. I think many times someone wants to believe so bad that are more willing to see what they want.

70's my ass I am 30 now I saw my first one in 1995 in Columbia NC while hunting. my second sighting was in 1998 in Mashoe's NC. both areas are of the same terrain. and the second one was crossing the road at night and it pretty much took up 1 whole lane. I know what I saw, and I know they exhist. as for you, come down here and we will go on a panther hunt. I can take you to the first place I saw one and you can examin the tracks, the scratches on the tree's around the pond and make your conclusion then.

K, to make it easier to tell its 2 dogs

1. click on the thumbnail picture to blow it up

2. Once it pops up, click on that picture.(it should open in a new window)

3. Hold your left ctrl key down and use your scroll wheel on your mouse to enlarge it.

4. See 2 dogs, one that clearly has a collar on.

Unless someone cut a 4-5 inch V right through its spine and its still capable of walking, thats not a black panther. Although Ive heard many elders in my area that you can pretty much take what they say to the bank that have claimed to seen some in our area (foothills of NC)

Again, homeslice, there is no such thing as a black phase cougar. It's scientifically impossible as they don't possess the gene to make that happen. The only black colored big cats in this world are that of a leapord or jaguar.
