For a breeding pair to either escape captivity or be turned loose (which in the early 70's I heard tell of in the mountains of Arkansas where I lived at the time), is not unheard of. could be where they came from. This is how most stories get out of hand....I hear all the time of people seeing mt lions, black panthers, big foot, Elvis, UFOs, and so on. The proof just never seems to be conclusive.
It is a proven fact that two people can see the same thing and come to completely different conclusions. I think many times someone wants to believe so bad that are more willing to see what they want.
