Walmart T-shirt
I believe I was in Walmart one day when I saw a shirt that had a picture of a deer and a statement that went something like this "Deer hunting A tradition established in 1787 by the second amendment". I have looked in Walmarts from Florida to South Carolina. Has anyone seen that T-shirt?

Deleted for skirting the profanity filter.

Exactly right 7.62 because hunting does not require a firearm.
And if anyone is into things that that are truly American - don't buy foriegn made stuff at WalMart which fills about 99% of their shelves. |

It's just a question
I am not trying to make a statement. I am just asking if anyone has seen the shirt. I want to see if it did say what I think it did. I was a nice looking shirt. I is hard to get away from Chinese products these days. My company gave us a reward that had a statement that praised us for our American manufacturing ability, it was made in China and printed in Taiwan, go figure. Yes, buy American when you can.

My view of free trade is dollar for dollar. Want to dump 10 million dollars of Taiwanese junk here in the US? Then Taiwan needs to take 10 million dollars worth of US made goods - even Steven. Furthermore, before anything can be sold here we need to be assured that it is manufactured with adequate pollution control so there would need to be changes in production methods along with oversight inspections that would up the bottom line of their production and make things not so lopsided. And the same oversight would be needed to be verified that no slave or child labor was used in the production. It's high time that this country starts holding it's own pants up. |
American Made

To the OP: I apologize for coming across so harshly. I should have addressed the matter in a completely different tone. |

I'm not sure who's leaving or who doesn't want to ask questions. The content of this t-shirt hits on a subject that I do not take lightly. Perhaps I should have addressed it in a different fashion...I got agitated when I read it. I'm just getting really tired of the 2nd Amendment getting dressed up in hunting clothes. People hear the lie long enough and they start to think that's what it's really about. And that's when you get HUNTERS deceived and in on the game. "Well, yeah, as long as I have my shotguns and my bolt-action (sniper) rifles, I don't see any reason why Joe Public needs to own an "assault rifle." Yep, there's a whole organization that's dedicated to ensuring hunters keep their hunting weapons while simultaneously putting the smack down on an individual's right to bear arms.

just NAFTA at its finest. it sucks. but WE let this happen. WE AMERICANS could stand up and say we don't want this crap sold here.,but then we'd have to get involved and most americans could care less. if WE all stoodup for whats right ,WE COULD FIX THIS . CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEN, TODAY!!!!

I agree
NAFTA and then CAFTA, let's not forget Central America. Plainly put, our government sold us out.

can of worms is all i can say...i have never saw the shirt either

alright srw and chester! Seems we have a couple of guys who can actually see the forest thru the trees.
Of course the avarage Americanyou consumer generally gets stuck having to buy non-domestic products when that is all that is available (DUH!). And I ain't giving no awards out for someone to point that out. The gov't has sold us out. Although I think Oblama is a trojan horse turd it goes back a mighty long ways before him. What alot of presidents are guilty of is letting it happen. But let me make something perfectly clear. I may be stuck having to buy imported products but I don't have to like it one bit. And I will speak up and bad mouth it until the day I die and not one day will I take an attitude of, "Oh well what are you gonna do?" It blows that so many people in our country seem to be so content being spoon fed cr*p. Backbones are rather scarce these days. |
Until some of you knuckleheads understand global finance and economics, stay off the soap box. As stated before, you wouldn't want pay the price for certain American products. Period. It's the cost of the opportunity to own more, which is what Americans do. Everything in excess.
Anybody wearing a $500 Filson coat? That's what I thought..... |

Did I tell people not to buy things? No I didn't. I basically was saying that the shelves in WalMart are literally filled (did I say 99%?) with foreign manufactured things and not buy there and try to buy elsewhere.
I'm done with you. |

Let me ask a question, if I may. What makes your opinion more important than others who may value the constitution and the ability to own, as you call em "assault" weapons. I don't think hunters are decieved, most value the constitution and their right to bear arms. Note, it doesn't discriminate as to what kind or weather it is for hunting or protection.

You sure set a great example for those who read the posts on this forum.
Hunters aren't deceived? Really?? First, it should be OBVIOUS that I didn't mean ALL HUNTERS. Regardless, as to your ignorant statement, perhaps you should look into the trojan horse that is the American Hunters and Shooters Association. I never knocked the guy, I knocked the statement on the crappy t-shirt. But I can see how someone as dim as you could get confused so easily. As I stated above, it's a vital issue that, when misrepresented, gets me agitated. I'm quite tired of the B.S. surrounding it. Now as for me having issues and you determining that I "sound like someone who shouldn't own a firearm," from a POST on the INTERNET, not knowing a THING about me, shows your true colors and the depth of your stupidity. I guess you'll be toasting it up with your fellow gun grabbers the next time they are successful on yet another infringement. |

We can just print up some more money or borrow some more from China. |
I have to laugh when these politicians and law makers start their BS of labeling certain firearms as "assault weapons".
When one human starts shooting at another with any firearm it is an assault weapon! ![]() |

I think my point went way over your head. You do not have a choice. Look at something like a TV or a microwave. You have NO CHOICE BUT TO BUY (AND SUPPORT) A FOREIGN COMPANY (i.e. country). And it is pretty much ditto with everything from your socks to your toothbrush. Other countries dump it all here. What do they buy from us?
It's upside down just like most peoples home value vs. mortgage right now, car loans etc... But it'll be alright. We can just print up some more money or borrow some more from China. Look at Fender guitars, you can't get more American than that...American made Stratocaster costs about $1,200. Mexican made costs around $500. Parts are almost identical, little better finish on a few of the American model, but that's about it. Empowering developing countries increases demand on American products. Which equals $in our pockets.. As for being upside down on mortgages, you can thank the govt, banks, and realtors for deregulation and over speculation... |
The automobile was invented in the US???? Hmmm....
And then you can get an American-made Suhr Pro Series guitar for about $1200 that blows the socks of an American-made Fender. It has to do with the attitude of the company. I guess you could say Fender is as American as you can get...a greedy, sell-out company. |
So, did any of you actually help this guy find the shirt he was asking about?

YOu veiw of even steven is socialism. Guareenteeing companies a market place even when the product is not competitiveis wrong but is why you can buy milk and food produced by the american farmer at rock bottom prices compared to the rest of the world since the Dept of Ag funnels a crap load of your money to farmers to make them viable and keep costs down. The subsidizing of the AMerican farmer keeps developing countries in poverty. Farming is the kingpin to development of a fledgling country. They can't produce and sell food on the market place and survive because of what the American govt does in proping upi the american farmer. Thus we now have to spend billions in foreign aid support countries that we have purposely prohibited from becoming self reliant. Free Trade works both ways. |

Oh, so what youre saying is, even you just told someone to be "truly american", you shouldnt buy things made overseas, you yourself are typing that very statement, on what is probably a chinese made computer?:confused2: I would also imagine that your house and driveway is filled w/ forgien made products, just like rest of the country, so although preaching "buy american" might make you feel good , in reality its just not practical, or even possible. That said, why should someone pay 3X more, than a product is worth, just so we can slap a "made in USA" lable on it, and artifically create a job? The reason why usa made products are so expensive, is not because of evironmental or slave labor restrictions, its because in america, people, many w/ out HS diplomas, feel they deserve 80K a year,5 weeks vacation, and full medical insurace, to slap 2 pieces of plastic together, Im not funding that. I dont think thats why unemployment is at 10.2% anyway, cause 3 years ago it was at 4.5%. Unemployment is high because we have a president who wants to raise taxes on those who create jobs. People dont wanna hear this stuff , they want to hear its the governments freetrade policies, but it just doesnt hold water IMO.

We have high unemployement because of a jobs bubble. We created jobs based on a debt laydened consumer that was not buying things with real money (if FRNs are considered real, visit www.goldismoney.info for an awakening), but fake credit. Thus we created fake jobs. Once the fake money was gone, the fake jobs had to leave. Government can't create jobs. Business owners can't create jobs. Only the consumer can. If the consumer will not or cannot spend $$$ then there is no cash flow for a business owner to indirectly "create a job". Taxing the business owner is not the problem. The problem lies in the unadulterated taxing of the consumer at a rate of almost 50-60% of their income when you figure in all the taxes he or she has to pay. What would you be able to do if you had another $20 to $30 thousand dollars in your pocket each and every year??

Back to the original Tee Shirt. This is not meant to offend anyone, but I am sure many will take offense so I am sorry in advance, but it has been my observation that the teeshirt slogans offered at nearly every walmart I have been to tend to cater to the lowest common denominator in society. Just sayin.

Yeah, when you sacrifice your namesake and quality for money (along with buying up every musical instrument brand you can), it's selling out. There's a REASON Fender guitars of a certain era are so sought after. Same with Gibsons. Of course, you can iconize and market yourself to death so the little sheep will keep buying your crap, thinking it's the best...all because of a name. And that's not to say ALL of Fenders products are crap, because they're not. And there's more to business and business ethics than the "scientific" side of economics. |

We're headed for a real crap storm, and I'm glad I'm somewhat ready for it (at least more prepared than the average person). |
