Don't have a 30-30... so, no. As for shine, I've shot several deer from under 30 yards with stainless or nickel plated rifles. As far as I could tell, it didn't really bother them.

Bob, I don't think we ever discussed it, but those are the same exact weapons I use. I use the CVA when stand hunting and the 870 with it's open sights while still hunting. Good luck this weekend and I'll update you later on my weekend!

As far as a 30-30 goes, given my usual style of hunting, if I carried a rifle, it would surely be the Marlin lever 30-30.

I had my 336 30-30 ready to go, but at the last moment I decided to grab something else. The very first night I took her out, I got a nice doe from my climber and I wasn't even done climbing yet. LOL!

I grew up with 30-30's and always loved the 336. It still amazes me the accuracy I get out of them. Every one I've owned or shot had at least a 1 1/4" group at 100yds. With the new LeveRevolution ammunition, they're a legitimate 200 yard gun now.

Nice gun!

Im using my Marlin tomorrow. Love that rifle. So much easier going through the woods with it than with my 300 mag.

Well I gave my 15 year old my pre 64 model 94 that I got when I was 12. (I am 43 now. I have toted it many miles and taken many deer. For his birthday and Christmas combined. So with that said I am taking him on his first deer hunt Tuesday morning. I never never thought he would show intrest in hunting. He was in to music and soccer. But wow...my life time dream coming true! So I am excited to see my old 30-30 have a new owner!

The old winchester 94 in 30-30 is next in line for this week. She is a shooter too, (atleast for me with open sights). The ML, a-bolt and Ar-15 already scored. After that, time for the pistola. Gets tough in December so the last two might take a while.
