Exclamation Who Else Is Busting Out The Trusty 30-30 This Weekend?

Oh man, oh man!!! I can't wait, I can't wait!!!!!

One of the greatest deer hunting rifles ever created! I'll be shooting Hornady's LE ammo.

Here's my 336S with Skinner Peep rear sight and Skinner front sight.

Nice gun. Man, I am SO gassing for a 30-30 lever action.

Hmmm...not sure if that acronym is used in hunting world. In music world, GAS stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome. It's become a verb.

Thanks! Love it! You can't go wrong with a nice levergun. I know I'm still very pleased with mine. Can't wait to knock a deer down with it!

I killed my first deer with my 30-30 in Missouri. I will never forget it!

Sitting on the ground in the snow against a tree freezing in some public national forest near Rolla. I turned to look and couldn't believe what I saw - a deer coming right at me. Took a frontal shot at 20 yards. Deer ran off. I thought to myself there is no way I missed that deer. I looked all over for blood at the scene of the crime and finally found one little itty bitty piece of flesh. I walked in the direction of travel and started seeing red followed by more and more red resulting in brown. It was way cool!

Like I said - never forget it.

Now, I am in Illinois and it is either the 870 or the CVA Optima. Can't say I wouldn't like to hear the 30-30 bark again at a deer.

Madd - You ever worry about that shiny barrel/receiver/action getting detected easily?

So far this season I have dropped two with my .30-06, but tomorrow, I head up into the brush, and no better gun than my .30-30 for this little caper. Funnest gun to hunt with in my opinion.

The odd part of using the .30-06 to this point was that I was setting up where I thought my shots would come between 100 and 200 yards. Oddly, both deer were killed close in. One at 10 yards, and one at 30 yards. Shoulda had my .30-30.

No... I could be an issue maybe, but I'm typically in really good cover and also high above the ground. I wouldn't have a problem hunting on the ground with it though.

MaddSkillz!

I almost did this morning buddy, but I was in a rare spot where it's possible for a 400 yard shot, so I brought the .243 instead. Didn't really think I'd get a shot that long.

I had my 336 30-30 ready to go, but at the last moment I decided to grab something else. The very first night I took her out, I got a nice doe from my climber and I wasn't even done climbing yet. LOL!

I grew up with 30-30's and always loved the 336. It still amazes me the accuracy I get out of them. Every one I've owned or shot had at least a 1 1/4" group at 100yds. With the new LeveRevolution ammunition, they're a legitimate 200 yard gun now.

Nice gun!
