"Well here what I think abouT "drawing the line" on gun ownership
Its simple, guns are tools, what makes them deadly is the hand that wields them. Whats more dangerous , a single shot 22 in the hands of a murderous street thug or a fully automatic AK 47 in the hand of a honest hard working law abiding citizen? When are folks gonna realize if you want to stop crime you must control criminals not guns!if a muderer wants to kill, even on a mass scale he will do it no matter what, and he will find a way and a weapon to do it w/. As far as banning a weapon cause you dont see a reason to own it ,thats ridiculous! Whos to say what one needs? Once you make the case there are guns that should be restricted on the bassis of "need" ,where does it end? 1st its the fully autos then it the semi autos then it anything w/ a detach. mag then its any thing that holds more 10, then 6 then 3 rnds and so on...Heck there are some in the archery forum that would do away w/ gun hunting altogether if they could and their supposed to be on "our " side. The point is once you set presidence to restrict guns in any way ,you allow the case to be made to keep restricting them, so I say give them NOTHING!!!!!! If you want to stop criminals from mowing down cops and school kids, lock these pricks up and throw away the key or better yet, destroy them like the vermin they are! Whats even better, give non felons nation wide the right to carry and protect themselves against these thugs. now doesnt that make more sense than "banning" an in animate hunk of steel and wood?" above quote by DeerandbearhoG I completely agree with this above statement. Here is an interesting fact in DC,the violent crime rate has dramatically decreased since June 2008. This stat was reported on all four major news network. If you remember the Supreme Court overturned DC's gun ban thus allowing homeowners to own firearms in June 2008. The networks failed to mention that in their story. I don't think it's a coincidence because in every state that has allowed conceal carry permits the crime rate for violent crime has decreased. Just something to think about.

He's not tried for mine yet.What worries me a little bit though is (from what I've read) pump guns are on the list also of no-no's according to the gun grabbers.

You NEED to learn the REAL facts. Look up the North Hollywood bank robbery and tell me again exactly many LEO got killed that day. And while you're at it-eat your words about those AK 47s being semi-autos. They were Illegally converted to full-auto. People like you have no business on a pro gun forum like this except to provide entertainment to us.
ORIGINAL: early in First, since the subject has been brought up (I was going to post this anyhow), I want to say that I think pistols, hunting rifles, and shotguns are sporting weapons and we should maintain the right to own such weapons. I have to be honest about this though. THERE IS NO REASON/PURPOSE IN ANY CIVILIAN OWNING AN SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLE! I'm sure there will be many who will argue tooth and nail against what I just said, but that's too damned bad! These friggen nuts out there are taking out cops these days like it's nobodys business with these rifles! A great example is that bank robbery they had in California a number of years ago. I think 4 or more police were killed with semi automatic rifles. The local police were helpless against these freaks! Another was just the other day in Pittsburg,Pa where 3 policemen were killed with a semi automatic rifle. An AK47 I believe it was. I'm quite sure there are many others on record. Come on here. We really don't need these kinds of rifles to be able to have fun at the range. There are WAAAY too many other choices available to us as sportsmen. To the guys that say it's our right to own these weapons, then why shouldn't we be able to own grenades and rocket launchers? I'm very sure they would be a lot of fun to play with as well. Seriously, we need to draw the line somewhere! If Obama takes away semi automatic weapons, I'm all for it. We need to start thinking about these guys out there putting their lives on the line every day for our own peace of mind. Let's try to keep this a friendly discussion. I'm sure some will agree with me and there will perhaps be at least as many who don't. I'm looking forward to hearing what folks think about this issue. |

I can put a gun on a table for 100 years and it will kill NOBODY! not one person will die from a bullet shot from that gun! Control the criminals selling/buying the guns before you attack the people who obey the law!

Huntinglady, That video showsexactly what isgoing to happend in this country if we don't get our crap together. The people had damn well better grow some and begin yelling at the top of our voices that we aren't going to stand for it any more.
