Default Gun Safe ?

Is it necessary to use a moisture absorbant in a gun safe?

Only if it's an air tight safe and you're in a humid environment. Most safes aren't even near air tight so in most cases no.

as long as you open your safe every few weeks you don't need any moisture control, unless its in a damp basement .

I've used a Golden Rod dehumidifier in my gun safe for 25 years without problem. However, living in FL, our AC is on about 8 months so that certainly helps lower the humidity levels.

I always use silica with the moisture indicator tabs. I have a Golden Rod but do not use it.
