I also use the Mah sound to try and stop a moving deer, but be sure to be ready because he may only stop for a split second.

I've even used "psst." Stops them cold, just be ready to shoot immediately!

I stop them if at all possible, aloud, high pitchedwhistle has always worked best for me. Sometimes you have no choice, I have dropped deer on the move when I had to, but I don't like it. It's not very precise. I killed an eight point a few weeks ago at a full bore run, but I had spooked him and it was a last ditch effort, I knew a whistle wouldn't stop him. You just have to make the call depending on the situation

I would take the shot, if your confident in it, it is an ok shot to take. If your not, then try to make some sort of loud sound and be ready to shoot if he pauses!

I take the shot trying to stop them doesnt always work. I pick a spot wait for them to cross into it and take the shot hasnt failed me yet. I dont think I have ever been lucky enough to have one just stop broadside for me.

Sometimes they wont stop for nothing, but usually a mouth grunt or bleat will stop them,if not whistle or just say hey, most of the time something will work just be ready to shoot as soon as he stops,he didnt get big by standing around in front of a gun for long periods of time in the daylight hours.

A simple "Mahh" works wonders.

Sometimes you may have to pick up the pitch if they dont seem to hear you the first time, and dependent on how far away.
