Default Northern Illinois Shotgun...too much corn standing

What a frustrating weekend. Hardly any movement in the areas I hunted. Anyone have a similar experience or was it a guns a blazin in your area?

I'd be interested in seeing the first season data for Pope County. I thought it was awful quiet throughout the first two days. I usually hear more shots than I did. Might have been the wind playing tricks. It has windy as hell Friday. Decided to remove this little guy from the gene pool. Didn't need his seed spreading through Pope with a rack like that.

It that deer is 18 months old,I don't see that it must have bad genes. Maybe, but too soon to tell. If he's older than that, he's a cull for sure.

We hunted in Jodavies and at least 75% of the corn in the areaaround our lease is still up. We saw some does and only 1 forky all weekend. They started to cut one of the fields to the west of us on Sunday and they where popping away pretty good for awhile. Tells me that as long as there is standind corn, the deer will be in it. We where really disappointed in not seeing any bucks, but we still have our tags for them as we filled our doe tags...
