Illinois Gun Season
What practical methods are used to hunt white tails in late November, Early December in Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin during the shotgun season?
Urines? Rattling?
Isn’t the rut pretty much done by then?

well they say to focus on food again because the deer will be in transition from rut to survival, so sit tight in between bedding and food...other than that i dont think theres much to recommend
-i hunt pike, sangamon, menard, christian, and cass counties if u care, haha

Hey you never know, there might be a buck left out there that has enough ambition and sex drive to come and take a whiff of that estrous scent you laid down. Our firearm season here in Wisconsin is always the week of Thanksgiving and I have bagged a buck with the help from scent and my bleat can at first light on opening day.

i always use scents and calls and it never seems to help. The deer pass and pay no attention to them. I mainly hunt edges and funnels getting them on their way in and out of the woods.
