Can Anyone Tell Me How Illinois Season Has Been?
The season in Kentucky has not been as good as years past. Rut seemed to come in late. I am in Crittenden County KY. just south of Illinois. I am just curious as to how your season has been going. There have been some high quality bucks harvested but the deer just didn't seem to move as well this year.
Thanks

People seemed to think that the deer werent moving well in southeast Illinois, but folks around here have done pretty good. I can think of a 24 pointer, 16 pointer, 11 pointer, two 10 pointers, and a bunch of doesthat have been taken within a mile of my property so far this year..

I personally have had the best season of my 25 years of deer hunting. I killed a nice 15 pt. on the first day of gun season after watching numerous rutting bucks and a huge buck about 1/2 mile away. I killed a 10 pt. on FridayDec. 14thto end my bow season. He was still chasing does and rutting heavily. I have personally seen some huge bucks at the taxidermist. The rut seemed to hit perfectly at the first week of gun season. Some friends of mine own ground in Pike county and they said the number of mature bucks seemed to be down from previous years. They had some blue tongue disease over there.

The deer moved pretty well down here but we did have some blue tongue in the area. It reminded me of 2004 when the weather was so warm. The weather was not that warm this year but the deer seemed to move similar to that year.
Thanks for all of the replies.

The pre rut was early. The big boys(3.5 or older) were locked down on does first gun. Second and muzzleloader had bad weather. But as always deer still died.
My buddy has the best 40 acres that you can hunt. It in the middle of 2000 that isn't hunted and is strictly monitored. All he managed was a 126" 8 pt. That's a down year for him.
