The bucks have been scraping for a long time here too. I read a post by someone a while back and he said that these early scrapes were more of a signpost and I agree with him. The action is heating up here in IA my last hunt I saw a smallish 8 pt. chasing a doe and then later saw another doe with a 6 pt right behind her. The big boys will soon be following suit.

The scrape you are seeing now are ot early scrapes, they are peak scraping phase scrapes.
Early scrapes would be those in September or early October.
Now is the time to hunt those scrapes.

Our Rut doesn't usually peak until late January or early February (after seasons are out) in most of the southern part pf Alabama. Usually do not see any rutting sign until mid-to-late December.
