RE: Doe or buck tracks
There is absolutly no way to tell if a buck or a doe made a certain set of tracks unless you see it make them. With that said if you happen on a really large set of tracks it is a fair bet that a buck made them, but you just can' t know for sure. The dew claws is definetly not a key in telling a buck from a doe as both sexes have them.

RE: Doe or buck tracks
You can not tell too much from looking at one or two tracks. However if you follow deer tracks for awhile there are several clues as to weather they are doe or buck.
Bucks tend to drag their feet some in a couple inches of snow. A doe will go under low tree branches and between bushes in tight quarters, while a buck would go around. The doe will squat and leave a hole in the snow when urinating while the buck will often stand and pee or pee while walking. Of course if the tracks lead to a rub or scrape and show signs the animal used it, there is not much dout it was a boy.

The only sure way to tell if it is a buck track is to see the buck making the track. Both bucks and does can leave an impression of the dew claws (the two dots), all whitetails have them.

RE: Doe or buck tracks
A large heavy buck will generally have tracks over 2 3/4 inches long. A big fat old buck may leave a somewhat splayed out track (pointing slightly out) and they tend to drag their feet a little, easier to spot in the snow.
Like another of the posters stated they tend to go around low canopy rather than under it. Because of their weight the dew claws will be more pronounced in the track than a doe.
Stationary does pee behind the track, stationary bucks pee in the middle of their track.
By adding all the clues together you can make an educated guess.
