I have a seven foot spear that I hog hunt with. I normally have a dog hanging off the hogs ear though, before I stick em. It's a rush!!!

I don't think I would ever go out hunting with a spear, but this season I had a chance that would be easy with a spear, maybe even a club!
I was sitting on a ledge when a doe ran up the hill I sat on, it was so steep that she disapeared when she got to the bottom of the hill, next time i saw her was when her head popped up 3ft in front of me, too bad all the antlerless tags were gone because she was a biggun.

A buddy of mine had a video of a black bear hunt with a spear that I made the mistake of watching. The way they did it in the video was from a tree stand and they would wait until the animal was directly below so they could drop the spear directly on the spine. It was deffinately NOT a quick humane kill.
I also know that there are certain spear hunting videos that peta uses to turn non hunters into anti hunters.

Timbercruiser do they allow you to use a spear thrower?

Taz, I hate unethical spear hunters who feel they have to cheat by using a spearthrower. That would make it to easy. After all, you would gain more fps with a thrower. Perhaps you can use your spearthrower during gun season only, and just use the spear by itself during spear season.

Mizzou right now I am pushing Va. to open a blow gun season, I already have an aircompressor with a 2,000 foot hose for the blow gun! Of course the season would coincide with gun.

Taz,

I think there is a 1000 foot hose restriction on blow guns (National Regs)....in order to force hunters to hunt suburban deer....<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

The device the natives used to chuck their spears was called an atalatal. They were supposedly quite effective. They were around a long time before the bow and arrow were used.
