As an Illinois resident, limited to shotguns and muzzleloaders for deer, I use trusty 'ol Winchester Super-X BRI sabot slugs. They work great for my application.
The technology for shotgun slugs and muzzleloader loads amazes me these days. Some of the newer rounds are getting out there a good distance …eh?
I'm a bit jealous though. I'd love tobring my trusty Remington 700to the woods with me. Maybe an out of state hunting trip is in order!

Deer aren't hard to kill, in my 30-06 I just buy winchester 150 grain psp loads. I hunt in Florida were the ranges are short, if I hunted were a longer shot were posssible I'd switch to a premium 165 grain boattail.

I use the Hornady 100 grain Custom shells in my Browning A-bolt Rilfe,for my Remington model 742 Automatic 30-06 I use the Remington Core-Lokt 180 grain shells and in the .270 Browning WSM Bolt-action I use 150 grain Winchester bullets.
