ATV spreader for QDM work.........
#1
Seen this the other day and was wondering if anyone has used this piece of equipment before. My cousin and I are getting into the QDM thing and will be doing several food plots this comming spring and wanted to buy a decent speader. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I havn't seen this particular brand work, but have seen the pull behind type. They work well. Be sure to get one that either comes with a top or you can easily make a top. Seeds slosh out easily even with fairly level soil. The price on that one seems to be a bit high.

I havent used that model, but it is pretty high for planting food plots, and most of my plots arent big enough to plant 300 pounds of seed,,, I use a Moultrie atv seeder, it is rack mounted, and will hold about 60 lb of seed, and works just fine for me, and it was only $99 at wally world. It is electric and has clips to attatch to your battery terminals.

Thanks for the replys.
We have to get one that you can put lime through. (We had the soil checked and the PH is way to high.) You can buy lime in bags, which cost to much doing it that way, or bulk dumped into a trailer. That way you can shovel it into one of those HD spreaders which would make spreading it around much easier.

Im pretty sure the only way to spread lime with either one, is to buy the pelletized. The bulk ag lime will pack together and wont feed out of either one, pelletized lime is a lot more expensive. Ive been dealing with the same problem, I need 5 tons per acre in a couple of my plots but couldnt get a truck there, so I was adding about a ton a year with the pelletized and couldnt even tell I was putting it on, but we've been select cutting it fora year now, and I had the loggers use my plots for their loadout landings, and now the lime trucks are coming, as soon as they get to me, Im an a month long waiting list.

Yea...I have a small one mounted on my 4-wheeler rack for seed and fertilizer...No good for powdered lime...We rent the cart from the feed and seed store and pull it with the 4030...
I don't think that one will work with the powdered lime...Someone needs to make one that will....Any engineers out there????
