At least we are finally having a little cold weather. It is suppose to be 17 tomorrow night, but back in the 70's the first of next week. I hope a couple of nights of freeze will sour the acorns up so they will be back in a normal feeding mode till the last of the month.

I don't really like hunting in the wind, but when the rut is on I have no choice. I live in Wisconsin. The deer here don't really like moving in windy conditions. I was on stand earlier this year(October 27). The wind was blowing pretty hard (20+). I have never had a better day in the field. Deer seemed to be moving everywhere. It if were up to me, I would go and hunt. If your not out there, you probably won't shoot anything.

When it is windy they will usually stay close to their bedding area and rarely venture out into the open, because it is harder for them to etect where different scents are coming from so they stay in cover. Hunt their bedding area and you might have some success.

Based on my experience, the wind plays little into deer movement. Of course this does not include gale force winds, etc. but for those days when the winds kicks up to 25-30 mph, deer move a lot more than folks realize.
Deer will move even when it's very windy and blustery and they will move a lot. They don't stay bedded nearly as much as most folks think. The deer have been exposed to windy days since the days they were born. They realize what affects it has on their ability to sense danger and their overall survival instincts.
They may be a little more skittish and deer sightings may be down but not nearly as I used to think.
