Just as the thread title says, it's never too late to get a start on a morning of deer hunting. I bagged two does this past Saturday even though I didn't get to my stand until almost 10 o'clock. After the Thanksgiving activities, I was just too lazy to get up at 4:30 on Saturday, even though it was cold and a few snow flurries were floating around. I then got up a little before 9 and made a hasty decision to hit the field as the first segment closed the following day and it was going to be cold all day and overcast with a sprinkling of rain here and there.
I figured I'd just get to my stand early and make a long afternoon of hunting, thinking I most likely wouldn't see anything until later in the day. Eleven o'clock rolls around and I see a group of 6 does working along the edge of the woods I'm in. I shoot one and they scatter, only to come back a minute or two later. I then commence to dispatch with another one, wanting to due my "conservationist duty" and keep the does in check if they were going to make it that easy for me.
Just goes to show you never know what time they may show up. Normally I've packed it in by 10 or 10:30 and headed home for some lunch with plans to come back that afternoon for an evening hunt (one of the benefits of a 'suburban warrior' needing less than an hour to pull out of the driveway and get into the stand).

How true.
On Thanksgiving, I planned on spending the entire day with the wife and kids. We went to breakfast and on the way home both my daughters said they were going back to bed because they were tired and the wife said she wanted to get a jump on preparing dinner.
It was 10 AM. Well i was in sweats and sneakers but i grabbed my gun and went out to my neighbors property that i have permission to hunt. Was out there about 20 minutes when i shot this guy.
I was against a tree with a red hoodie on withblue sweat pants and white sneakers (i think they call it relaxed camo). I had a blaze orange vest also
BTW i put the camo rain suit on to recover the deer cause it began to rain
