If I use a drag line with estrus do I take a risk of being attack by a buck? And would he be really attacking me or trying to mate? Seriously, I have read a few topic on this board refering to hunters watching out while useing a drag line with doe estrus.<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

YES THEY WILL!!! There was a story on disc. or one of those channels about a year ago. This guy had a pet buck that he kept penned up in his back yard. His neighbor(a lady) liked to jog every morning. One morning she was jogging got a few hundred feet past his house when she noticed she was being followed. She turned around and saw the deer and didn't think much about it, until the deer started to chase her. Well the deer attacked her giving her multible wounds from the horns, the buck also kicked her, and even bit at her. She ended up in critical condition from all of the wounds. The conservation officers said that the deer broke loose from its pen and atacked the women because of its hormons and the fact that it had no fear of humans. never under estimate the power of nature.

Jred, like model722 stated i have heard stories of this happening. In fact a guy i use to hunt with shot a smaller buck and said he had to b/c the buck just kept coming back and getting closer each time with less fear. He had a boot pad with doe in estrus on it. Although i am not a 100% sold on his account, I do believe that you should try and elminate it from you or your clothing. I have rattled in bucks that came charging and only stopped when I jumped up or shot...they are thinking it's real and are all worked up. So it may never happen, but really why chance it. Also why would you want to direct attention to you exact location, 99% will run at the sight or smell of you.

I have used drag lines, I uses a 8 foot line and soak the back 12-18&quot; with doe p. However it didn't work worth a hoot, so I haven't done it since. I did try scents this year and just hung them in the tree with tampons dipped in a half moon about 18&quot;-36&quot; of the ground and 100-200 yards from my location...this tech. worked great while rattling.

I saw a deer attacking a bowhunter on Fox's Worlds Most Dangerous Animals once. Stood right up on it's hind legs and starting kicking the heck out of him.

I am 250lbs and in Ga. are deer are not too big. bucks about 150-185, should one of these guys come after me I think I would run like heck (if I could'nt get a shot) I don't think any one on this board could handle a freaked out buck.<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

Watched When Animals Attack and saw a Nice buck beat the hell out of a guy wearing doe scent. He had to climb a tree and staw there until the buck finally left. He had multiple cuts to his face and he probably hurt for many days. Moose are known to be really bad about this, cows and bulls. Saw another video about bowhunting elk and the elk (6x6) kept charging the camera man 10 times or so and he finally had to throw something at it's head before it walked off. Every now and then you'll find one with big kahonas that isn't scared of you in the least bit.

I was mugged by a deer once, i dont like to talk about it much, he had a knife and took my gun. But seriously you do have to be careful, if spooked or cornered they will defend themselves. I think if i was a buck and followed a doe in heat trail thinkin i was gonna get some and then find out its a smelly old human i would want to beat him up.

years ago, a doe somehow wandered into our unused cow barn. I went in to get something and she ran into the little silo room and i went in after her as if she was a fawn. She let out a loud bray and knocked me over with her head and tried to get me again with her hooves as she went by. everything happened so fast and I'm glad that it was a small doe and i was young enough to take the hit.
two weeks ago my neighbor saw a large buck going by his house on the lawn so he grabbed the camera and shot out the other door to get a picture of it. He said the buck put his head down like a bull and started to pound the ground with his front feet, so he slowly backed up out of its site.
