I was mugged by a deer once, i dont like to talk about it much, he had a knife and took my gun. But seriously you do have to be careful, if spooked or cornered they will defend themselves. I think if i was a buck and followed a doe in heat trail thinkin i was gonna get some and then find out its a smelly old human i would want to beat him up.
