Foodplot questions
I'm doing some research on what would best be suited for my land and was wondering if anyone here could give me some ideas on places I might research through the internet? I can give tou a brief overview of what I have and what I hope to accomplish over the next few years if you have any suggestions they would also br greatly appreciated.
What I have:
80 acres, 29 tillable(alfalfa field which will not be changed.)
small pond
no hills
about 15-20 acres of swamp
was logged @ 5 years ago
LOTS of treetops are left
What I hope to do:
plant small orchard by pond, (does anyone out there know how long it takes apple trees to mature?)
plant food plot in hard woods along the edge of swamp.
cut as much wood as I can through the spring!
I'm going to try and open up the old logging trails a bit
and start getting some permanent stands set up.
If anyone has any inputs please feel free to give me some advice, first time I've ever tried to start a project like this.
2 other important facts, 1) This is in central wisconsin so you know the climate and 2) the food plot is back in the woods so I will not be able to get a tractor back to break ground, I'm planning on doing it the old fashioned way, by hand. Since it will probably only be about 1/4 of an acre, I think I will be able to be pull this off. Thanks, Aaron

RE: Foodplot questions
SORRY,
didn't see the QDM forum until it was too late<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>. Is there some way I can move this over there? Do any of you mods know how? Thanks again.
