Hey Everyone,

I am so glad i found this site. I have been thinking about getting into deer hunting for a few years and have not done it yet. I even went and bought some camo gear but have never used it. My biggest obsticle was that I am not sure where to hunt. I live in cook county IL. I know there is public land throughout the state I can hunt but not sure how good that is or how to go about selecting where to hunt. But I have decide that I will try Deer hunting this season. Anyone here hunts public land in IL? How Hard is it to find private land to hunt around here? HELP!!!! any advise would be great.

Your best bet is to get with a mentor, someone from this site is bound to live near you, and learn from them.

Kevin, I think you are right, I need someone to teach me the ropes,,,Is there a hunting buddy section here? or a way to look for a hunting buddy?

You could join a hunting club and get hooked up with other hunters that way.It might cost money but once you learn how to hunt it would be well worth it. There is nothing better in the world than the hunt for big whitetails.
