White deer herd
Here's a video of a herd with a good number of white deer supposedly from somewhere in Upstate New York.
Pretty cool to see and definite proof of the genetic basis behind it!

RE: White deer herd
It is probably the herd that is enclosed in a high fenced area. There is a herd in NY that is enclosed inside of a high fenced area that only has white deer. I read about it in F&S magazine once. No one is allowed to hunt them, but someone was thinking of having a lottery and making some big bucks from the hunts there.

Yes the Seneca herd is mostly white. Not albino but a recessive gene none the less. Was and old base. Link below.

My bad if it's a repeat, I just saw it and thought it was pretty cool!
I'd love to have the chance to see a white deer in the wild someday. I'd never have the heart to shoot one, but it would be cool to see!

I have an uncle up that way and he says when I get up there he'll take me out to see them. I think they should be protected. The Ethanol plant can build somewhere else. Get to contacting your officials in NY.

RE: White deer herd
That herd of deer is located on the former Seneca Army Depot, NY. Seneca AD was a huge ammunition depot with hundreds of above ground ammo magazines. Worked there in 2001. At that time they did deer hunt on the place. The whole area has been under high fence for over 60 years. A local resident told me that some ofthe deer used to have pink eyes but they were all killed off by hunters.
