Rebel Hog..... I actually live in Williamstown on 95 acres but do most of my hunting down on the river in Petersburg (alot of deer and big ones also) But don't get me wrong Williamstown has some dandy bucks as well, it just gets hammered with the rifle hunters.

I'm a Kentuckian also...never poached myself but I did hear a story bout two Ky boys going out west to hunt.
They stopped at a checking station bright and early the first morning they were there. They had 2 deer and a bear. The warden said "They are some of the finest animals I ever seen killed, Trophys they are."
On further inspection the warden noticedsomething about the bearand asked "How did you manage to shoot him through both paws and between the eyes???"
The Ky. Boys replied "He was tryin to keep the light out of his eyes."

As some of you know I just moved to Kentucky from Alabama .... the other morning I was sitting in a small cafewith a few guys who work for me ...while we sat and talked and drank coffee a young man came in and walked over to our table ..one of the guys knew him ..he was real excited and started telling us about a big 10 pt buck that his dad had shot ...as he told the story he told us he and his dad had seen several bucks out in a field andmentioned that after his dad shot the other bucks just kind of stood there and looked back towards where that were standing ...but never ran off ....well I asked him well why the heck didnt YOU shootone of them ..he looked at me and said " Heck I couldent ...I was the one holding the spot light"

dd
Its a sad fact for my Ky brothers. I don't know what the attraction there is to killin spotlighted deer. I know alot of guys in Eastern Ky that has thier 4 wheelers rigged up with 4 fog lights just for that purpose.

I am from there, but I won't do it. When I was a kid, a fun night was to go spot lighting, but without a gun. I even dated some girls who enjoyed it. Hey it was a cheap date, throw a burger down thier throat and go look at some monster deer in the summer nights. And if the moon was shinin bright, who knows, you might get stuck somewhere for the night.
