RE: Small Range Rifle????
I had a problem with the scope but I think some steel rings and mounts fixed that. That has'nt been my concern, being able to afford shooting itwhenever I just wanted to check the scope is mostly my problem.I want to find a gun that has a bigger variety of bullets for sale.My 270 I can buy a box for $10.00 or up to $30.00 or more.I also like knowing I can afford to be sure my scope is on.I'm really looking into the 44 Mag. rifle. What could I expect to pay for one, just a guesstimate?
Thanks again, JE |
RE: Small Range Rifle????
I just looked on Gunbroker.com at the Marlin 1894, and there is quite a range in prices from $325 for a used blue model to over $600 for a stainless new gun. I would do a more specific search on the online auctions, but I would shop around locally too.

RE: Small Range Rifle????
You could get an SKS, it shoots 7.62x39 ammo, and the ammo is pretty cheap, so is the gun, it's mostly a 100 yard rifle.

RE: Small Range Rifle????
Get a little H&R Handi Rifle in 45-70 or .450 Marlin.

RE: Small Range Rifle????
ORIGINAL: retrieverman ORIGINAL: DannyD WOW! That's High!!!. I paid $12.00 US for a box of 20 in243 No doubt retreiverman. I agree totally. But I'm assuming deer under 100 yards in Alabama. Not sure there is much of a need for premium ammo in this case |
RE: Small Range Rifle????
ORIGINAL: BamaHuntin What I'm looking for may not exist but I have to ask.I see soo many different calipers of guns but I'm not sure exactly what half of them mean.I'm looking for a rifle thats good up to 100 yards or so but not too much more powerful than that. The land owner does'nt want me to use any long range high powered rifles.I've been using a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel and a Busnell Trophy Series scope.I'm happy with it but the Sabot slugs are so high it's killing me.The cheapest I've found in my areaare $12.99 for a box of 5.It sucks sighting in the scope.Just wondering if their is any other options? Is their anything that has a shorter range than a 30-30? Thanks in advance. James |
RE: Small Range Rifle????
Just a little word here, but theres no gun thats a 100yd gun, I know your saying that thats as far a shot you need, but your land owner needs to realize there not hardly a rifle that shoots a bullet that wont travel atleast a mile.

RE: Small Range Rifle????
I understand that the the bullet isnot going to hit the ground right past a 100 yards but I will feel like I have a less of a chance with a smaller caliper.
Going to try and go look at some today. JE |
RE: Small Range Rifle????
