Small Range Rifle????

Small Range Rifle????
What I'm looking for may not exist but I have to ask.I see soo many different calipers of guns but I'm not sure exactly what half of them mean.I'm looking for a rifle thats good up to 100 yards or so but not too much more powerful than that. The land owner does'nt want me to use any long range high powered rifles.I've been using a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel and a Busnell Trophy Series scope.I'm happy with it but the Sabot slugs are so high it's killing me.The cheapest I've found in my areaare $12.99 for a box of 5.It sucks sighting in the scope.Just wondering if their is any other options?
Is their anything that has a shorter range than a 30-30?
Thanks in advance.
James

I might suggest something like a 44 magnum rifle, but for what you are talking about, I would think a slug gun would be perfect for your situation. You can buy alot of slugs for the price of a new gun, then you have to buy ammo for a new gun too.

I'm hunting whitetails.I could buy a lot of slugs forthe price of a new gun but long term I'd be better off buying another gun if theirs another option.Spending nearly $30.00 for 10 bullets is gettinghard to swallow.I'll look into the 44 mag and see what it's all about.
Thanks,

You may have ascope problem. I would try a different/better scope and or mountsand you won't need to re-sight it in every year, just some practice. I paid $39.80 for a box of 20 .243 cartridges about a week ago. You won't save anything by going to a rifle.

357 or 44mag would be good choices. Your slug gun would be great too, but I understand the cost of shells. You could also consider a muzzleloader. A relatively inexpensive ML, like a traditions pursuit would be good out to 100 yards, but would limit you to one shot. Something to consider though.

id go with a marlin model 1894 in .44 mag.i own one and the yare super accurate.i love shooting it..it has hardly no recoil at all..i would feel very comfortable taking a deer at 100 yards with it but no farther..Last year i took a 4pt with it at 60 and droped him dead in his tracks.
