will unseaonably hot temps delay the rut?
where i hunt the rut could start any day, but with temps being in the 60s for the next week or 2 instead of 40s or lower, could this delay the rut?, during the night. It still goes down to 32 during the night buck during the afternoon it gets hot.

Bar of soap- My guess it's because the tem is cooler out in nov. lows around 32 at night and hight around 40's during the day so some hunter thinks thats what triggers the rut just may guess .

I know here in texas we haven't had a good cold winter in a while, from all the research i have done I have heard many theories on what causes the rut to take place. some people say moon phases, cold fronts,or the length of day light (which I guess could be tied in with moon phases). The best theory I can come up with is a that they all effect rut. I have seen in past seasons the rut just kind of trickle down or may heat up (rut)one day when the conditions are right and then be really slow the next.

I think photoperiodism sets the rut off in november, and the warms temps keep em bedded during the daylight hours. Do wanna run around in a winter coat when its 80 degrees? Then again, stranger things have happened in november.

From what I've read, the rut is triggered by the amount of light that eneters the does eyes. As daylight diminishes, the estrous cycle begins. Warm weather will suppress movement, but not the rut itself.
