Why such a delay?

Why does it take manufacturers such a long friggin time to up date their web sites?
Every year it's the same thing. You would think that with the ATA show being over for a month now that every one would have their 2005 products up on their sites for the public to view. It doesn't take that long to do a simple change of scenery and to add a couple of things to a web site. They make millions of dollars from us but they can't let us see what they got to sell.
Sometimes I wonder how companies stay in business.

I agree with ya BigBulls, I am frustrated with that myself right now. Mathews is running a couple of months behind with their flood of orders, and I am still waiting on my left handed Switchback. In the mean time I am wanting to research and learn about all the different goodies to accesorize my new bow. I keep hearing about this and that item, which has just come out. Yet when I go to the web sites to find some info on these new items, their is none to be found. That just sucks.

It's a big time drop of the ball IMO. It's doesn't take that long to update the sites. This IMO shows extreme inefficiency at the mangement and upper mangement levels. You know what you are coming out with this year. Have your IT people or website people working on it and upload or have it ready to upload right after the show. So everyone that hears the buzz from the show can go to your website and get more info. Summit is an example that comes to mind. In the past I have not gone with Summit because API allows you to climb a broader range of trees. HOWEVER, with some of the buzz about the new stands I thought since I am about to buy a new stand, I will give the new Summit's a look. But, they don't have any info on their website so I just ordered the API because I know I like that stand.

A lot of companies have an outside company maintain their website.
That slows the process, not taking up for them, because they could
have gotten the info to whoever maintains their website, long ago, and scheduled it to air on a particular date!

The trouble is that most companies in the hunting industry just plain and simply don't grasp the importance and the impact that their website has on not just their sales, but overall interest in their products. When you guys hear about a new bow or stand or broadhead the first logical place to look is that company's website, for the simple fact that it's really the only place to look without waiting for a little blurb to show up in a print mag two months later.
As a company that handles websites for a lot of hunting equipment manufacturers we deal with it on a daily basis. Trying to schedule times to meet with marketing people this time of year is almost a joke beause of all the trade shows, tv show productions, print ads, and other "more important" things that keep coming up.
We're working as hard as we can to help people realize the importance of their web presence, but it's not as easy of a task as it would seem.

However, Bowtech and Hoyt also have their sites updated with their new products as well. If you want to stay on top, that's what it takes.

Maybe Matthews is adding a disclaimer to their web site. The local archery shop here had a new Switchback blow up on them during a test draw. Fortunately, there weren't any significant injuries.
