Some of these responses are bull. Don't get the neighbors pets mixed up with feral dogs! Most landowners know what dogs belong to the neighbors. But there are alot of feral dogs running around the countryside. I have witnesseda fawn thatferal dogsripped its guts open. The dogs would not let us near the fawn. Had to put the fawn out of its misery and the dogs too. My property to control! I doubt most of the reponderseven own their own land. As far as the neighbors dogs, once you have complained to the neighbor and hedoes not control his pets. Then the petowner has decided for you. Those that say they would shoot a legal landownerhuman being for protecting theirown property are full of it. Wish you lived around me, would test your response.

"I doubt most of the reponderseven own their own land"

Last time i checked, you pay your property taxes and have owner papers, you own that land. Now my response to you is, most people with a crap load of land dont actually own it, the bank where they look out that big loan owns it. Just like ranchers, all that fuel they use, all those cows they own are a tax write off. The feeling i get from some of the responses is that there was a better way to deal with the problem. I've had problems with dogs in my area before, you either run them off, contact the owners, get the sheriff out here to do something and as a last resort, Shoot them. Ever come across a bobcat when u were hunting and have it scare the deer off? I have and u know what? Big deal, thats fine. You can Bitch and moan about it all you want but its not going to solve anything and neither will shooting the dogs. Theres always going to be someone nosing around that will catch wind of a story running around and turn that person in. Its not worth the fine or harrassment from the dog owners. You shoot atcars too when they drive by and scare off the deer?

Since when does a deer become your personal property?

Those pictures I displayed, the dog was shot on the owners property or adjoining public land. Tell me how whoever shot it was protecting their own property or themselves?? Bullet enterred from the rear and exitted the side... Yep that guy was in fear for his life,, my lab can lay out some vicious farts!

The issue u are trying to start has nothing to do with the topic. Do you ever go out and shoot a coyote on your land? Now where im from, you can but have to have a small games license. Mr ranger catches u without one, thats a hell of a fine. If you are that insecure and a cry baby about some deer running off " this isnt to the main poster".. You have issues. Theres more important things in life to get upset over than some dogs running on your land. The main point im trying to get into some of your heads is.. Try doing it in the most respectable way that you would like it to be done. How would you like it if your wifes dog or kids dog got into a pack of others and you find out some a-hole hunter shot it. This is the type of thing bunny hungers hope will happen so they can slap a big law suit against that hunter and cause trouble. You need to think about your "problem solvers" and how they may affect other hunters. No point in going to war with a few neighbors over dogs.

Swamp thing where does my post say anything about who owns a deer? Guess I could have let the fawn lay there screaming while they at at it alive. All I am saying is the laws in our state as posted earlier say I have the right to protect me and my property. Can't speak for other states. When the three dogs were attacking me and my daughter while trying to protect the fawn they just gutted then yes I will react and I would hope that in this particular instance you would too.

My neighbors dogs do come on my property and hang out most of the year but they are not deer killers. The wild dogs I have around are mange no collars, run in packs anddo kill. My neighbors have had their dogs killed by these packs.

Frontier,I shoot yotes, here in missouri landowners are not required to have a small game license as long as they hunt their own land.

maybe i misunderstood something but it sounds like u were putitng yourself in harms way with ur daughter to protect a fawn? and then shot the dogs in self defense? how about not aproaching the pack of dogs.... its not your responsibility to protect fawns thats the way of nature some animals die. You keep saying you can protect yourself and your property but that deer isnt your property and you put yourself in danger its not like the dogs were out hunting you they were just protecting their kill

What if those dogs had of ran off a trophy buck? What would you do then? If a dog will run 1 deer it will run another. If you want to keep deer on your property, they need to feel comfortable. I doubt running for thier lives will do much for that.
