Hornady period!
Really messed one up w/ 130 grn one time. Heart was split in two and mush. Lungs were too. Everything else was in tact. Good entrance, even better exit!
Did EXACTLY what I wanted it to. Deer ran maybe 30 yds after a 8' vertical jump upon "impact".

if you are going to hunt whitetails you should just get winchester powerpoint 150 grain they are about 14 dollars a box of 20 and sure do a get job on deer unless you have some money i wouldn't suggest buying federals

When I had a .270 - I've since sold it - I used PMC 150gr, rem Core-lokt130gr, and some federal premium 130gr (on sale!). All killed deer. Usually bought core-lokts.
don't think it matters most of the time - .270 is a pretty potent round. I use a muzzleloader now, but have a real jones for a Marlin 336....

I had a Weatherby Vanguard .270 several years ago and it loved the Winchester 130 grain ppsp's.The deer hated them, though.
It hated the silvertips and the balistic charts at bthat time showed the 130's had more energy out to about 300 yards or so than the 150's.
There are many different brands of ammo to choose from now so this info may be useless.
I do know this,my 7mm-08 LOVES the Winchester 140 grain ballistic silvertips. The damage to deer is perfect. My 12 year olddaughter shot a bb at 140yards,right through the lungs and didn't hurt a single bit of meat.

Skeeter, i understand all that. I just use the Game kings in the 270 and, the NPs in the 06' because that is what they shoot best. Any time i get a new gun,i try every factory and handload i can.
