Default Frame of mind

I am curious on this issue. We as hunter enter the woods while hunting in diffrent frame of minds, due to everybody is diffrent. Some hunters state for example that while they hunt they think about many a thing, I read an article about ESP your deer in, think it in? I will use my brother for an example. He needed to put some meat in the frezer due to his large family, and he was having a bad year in his life. During the begining of bow season thats all he thought about, was all the negative things that were going on, well to no avail would he see any deer. I told him to mellow out and to try to keep his thoughts open and relax, sing a song in his head, try not to think about any negative thoughts that come with everyday life, and just enjoy where he is. Well it worked he calmed down and let it be and he connected. The strange thing is he never had any problem connecting before.Just curious, I wonder if a deer can six sense there surrondings ect? Has anybody ever overhunted to the point of a negative results. Whats your frame of mind. Thanks

I believe you do have to be in the right frame of mind. Usually if I feel like I'm going to see a deer I do. When we hunt and go in the woods in a distracted state of mind this throws are hunting skills off. We end up makeing more noise then we should we don't pay attention to whats going on etc... As far as a deer having a 6th sense I believe that they can tell even the slightest difference in there surroundings.

How many of you have gotten that feeling that you just KNOW your going to harvest a deer that day? I know I have for over half the deer I've taken. It's a strange feeling that I wish I would get more often! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

What an intriguing line of thought. I have had the phenomena of picturing in my mind where a squirrel will come down or how a deer will step out and it has happened. I often thought that maybe you can will something to happen. Last month I shot a doe and on the way to my spot I started laughing because I knew I would be successful just like other respondents have said. In life you really can't afford a negative thought or it's consequences. Project the positive
and even failures will turn to oppurtunity.

If it crawls it falls, if it flies it dies.
