How dark is to dark to shoot? what range of sight?

As others have said, check the regs and the sunrise/sunset times, you should be able to get it down to within a couple of minutes of when you should pack it in.

Maybe I am too conservative, but for bowhunting, I stop hunting AT sundown. If I shoot a deer at 29 minutes after sundown with a bow, and then have to wait another 20-30 minutes before I go after him, it will be REALLY dark by then. Wouldn't do it.

i'm with texas hunter.Hunting with my bow i usally quit around sunset.i dont track at night unless i,m away from home and can't come back in the morn . I get out of my stand as soon as i think it's too dark .
