I process all of mine as well. I know what I am recieving, and that it has not laid in a pile of hair and sludge in the processors floor.[:'(]

This year will be my first time hunting whitetail deer. My buddies do there own cleaning, but I dont like thier idea about putting all the meat in a black trash bag and drive 2 hours back to the house and stuff it in the family fridge and prepare it another time. In this case, i'll problay let someone else process my deer, if i get one![8D]

My brother and I have been doing most of our own for the past several years. Then take the scraps somewhere for the sausage, burger and dogs. We now have a grinder and hope to start doing that this season. We cut the steaks how we like them and we know that we get all of our meat.

mallard, all you really need is a manual grinder, SUPER sharp knife and all the seasonings you like.

But what if I want to make jerky. Dont you need a jerkey pusher and for hamburges a meatcutter with attachments and suasage stuffer.

I"ve beengetting mine processed for years, but thecost in the last couplehas increased about 35% to 45%. For me $70 was fair for a deer. Now they want $100 for anything less than 100lbs and $125 for anything over 100lbs. They priced me right out, but I will have them make me their summer sausage.

i've never used attachments for jerky or burger and our sausage is patties.
hamburgers are made from ground meat..
our jerky is made of strips of meat, not round kind..

hope it helps..
