hello,
i have a question about proper handguns for use in deer hunting. I heard that 357, 44 mag and a few others, but do yall have any other suggestion for a legal deer hunting handgun. I live in MD. Is it legal to use a semi auto? if so, please suggest a few of those - b/c i like semis alot more. I just have no idea of what type to get for hunting deer? please guide me along. thanks a million

I would not suggest a semi auto pistol to hunt with. A 10 mm would be about your best choice, but IMO still not a good hunting weapon.
If you go with a 357choose your shots wisely, you need self control like a bowhunter. Basically taking broadside clear shots, aiming for the ribcage. A 44 and up will give you much more flexibility.

Got this one on my wish list. dealer say's he put a leopold scope on his and with the454rd. it's good for 200 yds. Also like the fact it will take a reg. .45 rd for practice. It's available in different barrel length also.

one of my dads freinds uses a t/c contender in .44 super mag. to hunt with, it is only a single shot but he when we was out shooting he was keeping them in a 6in. circle at 100yrd, that would be my suggestion, did have a good bit of recoil, but it was neat to see him shot, specially the big fireball that left the barrel,,,just my .10
