I have been hearing how this "magic" bullet/caliber combo is perfect for open country whitetails. I just got through ordering a couple of boxes of these babies from cabelas and am looking forward to putting some through my A-Bolt. My 25-06 has taken whitetails from point blank range all the way out to....too danged far with hornady custom 117 gr boattails, and I have been pretty happy. But, from what I understand, nosler partitions are noted for penetration and knock down characteristics. As long as I can get acceptable accuracy with the nosler partitions, it is a switch that I am going to make. I would like to hear some opinions from those in the know.

I used thet factory load years ago to take a nice muley in NM. You won't be disappointed in the performance. After years of reloadin' 'bout ever bullet there is, I've stopped screwin' around with inferior bullets in high velocity cartridges. Noslers are my choice fer shootin' et hair.

That should be an excellent round, cartridge, and bullet combo. Nosler Partition bullets are excellent for penetration and if your taking long range shots where the round has lost significant velocity then you want a premium bullet to help with penetration. Good choice.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Let me throw one more angle in here. What would be the advantage of the partition over a ballistic tip? From what I gather, the bt is a highly accurate bullet that can be devastating, but prone to blowing up when contacting shoulders. I saw a nice buck killed with a bt last year that was just about reduced to chili meat. Lots of wasted meat, which is something I would like to avoid.

Them B-tips (an' ever other boat tail) are fer shootin' paper. Won't hold up to heavy meat an' bone. Lose their jackets. Don't screw around. All the accuracy you need is in the partition. You ain't shootin' the warts off toads et 500 yds. Or, maybeso you are. In thet case, use whatever you want.
